One hundred and nineteen pedestrians who abandoned the bridge and crossed the expressway have been arrested in Lagos State.
The offenders included 106 males and 13 females and they were arrested around Ketu along the Ikorodu Road.
The arrest of the offenders came barely three weeks after about 100 people were arrested for crossing the expressway.
The offenders were arrested by a joint patrol team of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), Lagos State Task Force and officials of Kick Against Indiscipline (KAI).
Tribune Online gathered that the task force team and the police had to return to Ketu after noticing that people decided to shun the pedestrian bridge.
Olatunji Disu, the commander of the RRS, while speaking on the latest arrest, said: “There is no point in putting one’s life in danger by crossing express ways where government has provided for the citizenry the overhead bridge.
”The state governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, realised that many lives are being lost for refusal to use the bridge and we now have a mandate to instill that discipline in people and any defaulters will be prosecuted according to the traffic law."
