We’ll stop Eagles – Tanzania coach

As Nigerians continue to wait for the arrival of new coach Sunday Oliseh this week, Super Eagles foes for the September 5 Afcon 2017 qualifier, the Taifa Stars of Tanzania  moved into camp in Dar es Salaam on Sunday.

Stars head coach, Charles Boniface Mkwassa last week named five foreign based players in his 29-man squad, to prepare for the match.

The Tanzania coach has been sounding tough even as the Stars lost the first match of the qualifiers 3-0 to the Pharaohs of Egypt.

Mkwassa voiced optimism that his boys will put their Afcon campaign back on track at the expense of the Super Eagles

“I am optimistic that the two warm-ups against Libya and Kuwait will give my players the much needed exposure for the Nigeria match,” Mkwasa said.

Hassan Sembi from South Africa’s Santos FC and Adi Yussuf from Mansfield Town of England were named for the first time and will join Mrisho Ngasa from Free State of South Africa and TP Mazembe duo of Mbwana Samatta and Thomas Ulimwengu in the squad.

Youthful Orgenes Mollel from Aspire Africa camp in Senegal and Azam’s new boy Farid Musa have also been included in the team that face a must win situation against Nigeria to revamp their hopes of making it to the 2017 AFCON finals.



The team will stay together in Dar es Salaam for one week before departing for Istanbul, Turkey on August 23, to set up a ten-day camp to prepare for their second match of the qualifiers.
