The van which was carrying the presidential press corps was involved in a fatal accident when one of it’s tyres burst.
Three others, Pascaline Adadevoh of GBC, Napoleon Ato Kittoe of GTV, Patrick Bida of The Enquirer are responding to treatment.
The injured journalists were airlifted by a helicopter to the 37 Military Hospital after the accident which happened around the Shai Hills.
However, a reporter with the Ghanaian Times Samuel Nuamah died on the spot when the bus veered off the road and somersaulted.
The Managing News Editor at Ghanaian Times Newspaper, David Agbenu told Citi News that they are devastated at Nuamah’s death.
“We are in a state of shock and a very somber mood because our colleague is one of our flawless writers, he is a gem and he’s been at the presidency for the past eight years. This is a guy we are talking about and we cannot understand why he has to go that way. We are deeply saddened by the news that our colleague was involved in an accident. The thought of losing a colleague is so heavy on our hearts.”
The Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah and other government officials also were at the 37 Military Hospital to visit the journalists.
