fewer than three persons, including the driver of a 13-seater
inter-state passenger bus, on Tuesday, lost their lives in an accident
along Ajah-Epe expressway in Lagos State.
The Director, Lagos State Fire Service, Mr Rasak Fadipe, made the disclosure to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), saying that the remaining 10 passengers sustained various degrees of injury.
Fadipe said that they got information about the accident involving the bus belonging to the Young Shall Grow Motors and the trailer conveying a caterpillar at about 9.00 a.m.
Fadipe said preliminary investigation revealed that the bus driver, in an attempt to overtake the truck coming from Epe, hit part of the caterpillar.
He explained that the caterpillar on the truck was wider than the normal road.
Fadipe said that it took some time before they were able to evacuate the bodies and take the injured passengers to the hospital.
The director said that Lagos State Ambulance Service conveyed the corpses and injured persons to Epe General Hospital.
